Wa’ah, 33, knows what it means to persevere. Displaced from his hometown of Al-Jubah due to conflict, he and his family were forced to leave everything behind. Living with a disability affecting his right hand, Wa’ah faced additional challenges as he sought to rebuild his life in displacement.
Alongside his wife and four children, Wa’ah arrived at Al-Aathel IDP site in Al-Wadi district, Marib governorate. Like thousands of displaced families, they struggled with harsh conditions, unpredictable weather, and limited resources. Despite these challenges, Wa’ah was determined to provide for his family and regain a sense of stability.

Support from UNHCR, with funding from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), helped ease some of these hardships. Through the transitional shelter project, Wa’ah’s family received a durable shelter, offering protection from the elements and improving their overall well-being.
“The project has made a real difference for us,” said Wa’ah. “It has helped families across the IDP site, providing shelter and stability when we needed it most.”
The assistance provided through this partnership has reached thousands of displaced families across Yemen, ensuring they have safe and dignified living conditions. While challenges remain, sustained humanitarian support continues to be a lifeline for families striving to rebuild their lives.
For Wa’ah, having a secure home is a critical step toward a more stable future. With his family safe, he can now focus on moving forward, determined to overcome the challenges of displacement and provide a better life for his children.
