In Yemen, nearly 5 million children under five years and 2.7 million pregnant women urgently need life-saving nutrition interventions.
“I am here today, in Sirah Polyclinic, Aden City. This polyclinic serves tens thousands of people in Aden and also displaced persons, muhamasheen who have come in to Aden over the last 10 years. This polyclinic is absolutely essential to protect children’s health to make sure the kids don’t get ill, to make sure the children are vaccinated, so that when they get malnourished there are malnutrition services and for mothers giving birth. It’s really an extraordinary collection of services for the population, and it’s really joyful to see the work of the professional and committed staff being here for years providing health services through good times and bad times. If it wasn’t for the support of this governmental polyclinic with support from @UNICEFYemen and the World Bank this population’s health outcomes would be just awful. “ Julien Harneis, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator.
This year, more than 17 million people require health assistance in Yemen.
UNICEF supports 22 primary #healthcare facilities in #Aden, and a total of 2,200 healthcares facilities across Yemen.
We are doing all we can, but the world must not forget #Yemen .
