UNICEF Yemen: Hundreds of children fight the battle of malnutrition in Lahj
Children and #pregnant and #breastfeeding mothers are vulnerable to the risk of malnutrition due to conflict and extreme #poverty. Reemas is one of the #children who suffer from malnutrition in the region. With generous funding from the EU, UNICEF supported the community health and nutrition volunteers. 251 volunteers were selected based on their previous experience to ensure that they can provide professional and effective services. The project provides nutrition and healthcare services to children with malnutrition and pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. It also conducts awareness sessions for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers in order to improve the children’s standards of life in the affected region. The project helped provide nutrition services to 668 children and babies in addition to distributing 1,899 multi-micronutrient powder packages.
