WHO Yemen: The overlooked mental health crisis in Yemen | #WorldMentalHealthDay
27 October 2023
While some health issues are visible, mental health psychosocial conditions often remain unseen. Communities have to face the trauma and the socioeconomic pressures of a 9-year silently and with scarce support. Mental health services are a major gap in #yemen . Around 7 million people require mental health support but only 120,000 have uninterrupted access to services needs are rapidly increasing and access to specialized services is limited especially for people in hard-to-reach areas. Women, men, and children are left on their own to handle their trauma bereft of hope and unaware of their right to seek help. This affects lives and communities and creates a devastating cycle of suffering. It is imperative that we prioritize mental health support in Yemen to break this cycle and provide hope for a brighter future.
