FAO Yemen: Protect Livelihoods

Like many #livestock breeders in #Yemen, Soliman Omar has been affected by the protracted conflict. High-priced livestock feed and unstable income have posed a significant threat to Soliman’s livelihood, putting him and his family at risk of #foodInsecurity. “I had to choose between feeding my #sheep or #children”. Soliman Said @FAOYEMEN implemented the project in Al-Dhale’e and #Lahj, supporting Soliman and 14930 households who own livestock with animal feed and mineral blocks and awareness training on good animal husbandry practices. "The organization’s feed and mineral block distribution was a great relief; it helped improve my livestock production. My livestock became fatter, and I sold some of them for a good price during Eid. My income this year has increased significantly". Soliman said FAO interventions do not only protect livelihoods, but they also improve food security and nutrition of vulnerable families.
