Pledging Event: The World Must Act Now to Prevent Catastrophic Oil Spill in the Red Sea

The Government of the Netherlands and the United Nations will co-host a pledging event in The Hague on 11 May to support the UN-coordinated operational plan to address the threat of a major oil spill from the FSO Safer, an aging tanker off Yemen’s Red Sea coast holding four times as much oil as the Exxon Valdez spilled. A major spill would result in a humanitarian and environmental catastrophe and have profound economic costs across the region.
