Tarim District is a lush oasis surrounded by palm trees. Seasonal flash floods and heat waves occur in the area, adversely impacting farmers and agricultural production. Before SIERY project, Farming was challenging! Farmers used flood irrigation to water their crops which caused water and expensive electricity bills. SIERY project provides farmers with modern irrigation systems, fertilizers, and technical assistance to help mitigate the effect of severe weather and increase farmers’ yields.
